ACM Awards 2019 Predictions

So with the ACM awards just over a week away. I thought we would have some fun today and try and predict winners at the award show. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to watch the award show live, as there is a little event called Wrestlemania happening at the same time. Still, after I catch it on Monday we will be doing a full review along with seeing how badly I got the results wrong.

Entertain of the year

  • Chris Stapleton
  • Jason Aldean
  • Keith Urban
  • Kenny Chesney
  • Luke Bryan

Really this award could go either way. Luke Bryan is always a solid choice for entertain of the year.  It’s tough to pick from the choices on this list. Having experienced both a Keith Urban and a Chris Stapleton headlining show back at C2C however, I would give this to Keith Urban. Chris Stapleton is amazing and was the person I enjoyed the most overall at C2C however in terms of showmanship Keith Urban was the better performer. Really anyone can take this award bu Keith is my pick based on seeing him live.

Male Artist of the year

  • Chris Stapleton
  • Dierks Bentley
  • Keith Urban
  • Luke Combs
  • Thomas Rhett

I am a big fan of everyone on this list. Thomas Rhett has been great the three or four times I have seen him live. Dierks is amazing and it’s been fantastic seeing home Luke Combs has exploded over the last year. He is a well-deserved winner of new artist of the year. However, I think this is a coin flip between Chris Stapleton and Keith Urban. While Chris Stapleton lost points in entertain of the year based on the styling of his set. He more than makes up for it here. Chris Stapleton is my prediction to walk away with this award.

Female Artist of the year

  • Ashley McBryde
  • Carrie Underwood
  • Kacey Musgraves
  • Maren Morris
  • Miranda Lambert

This is another hard choice. Love all of these women and have seen them all live. Going to be seeing Ashley, Carrie, and Maren again later on this year and is Miranda and Kacey announced tours today I would be on Ticketmaster buying them as soon as they went on sale. You would expect either Carrie or Miranda to take the award but I am going to go for an outsider. Following up on winning New Female Artist of the year I am predicting Ashley McBryde will step up and win the big one for the first time.

Duo of the year

  • Brothers Osborne
  • Dan + Shay
  • FGL
  • LoCash
  • Maddie and Tae

If I was giving out the award on personal preference I would hand this to Maddie and Tae every single time. Still, this is about picking the winners or at least attempting to. This is between two acts for me. Dan and Shay have been amazing over the past 12 months but I expect Brothers Osborne will take the award. Still could go either way.

Group of the Year

  • Lady Antebellum
  • LANCO
  • Little Big Town
  • Midland
  • Old Dominion

This little category really seems like the new school against the establishment. With Lady Antebellum and Little Big Town have been around for years. Against Lanco, Midland and Old Dominion who are the new boys in town. Got to say I enjoy all of these bands and have seen them all live within the last 12 months. It hard to pick but I am going to give the award to Old Dominion.

Album of the Year

  • Dan + Shay (Dan + Shay)
  • Desperate man (Eric Church)
  • From a room volume 2 (Chris Stapleton)
  • Golden Hour (Kacey Musgraves)
  • The Mountain (Dierks Bentley)

I can only see this award going one way. Kacey Musgraves album golden hour is a masterpiece. The album already has a Grammy and CMA award attached to its name. I would be shocked if it also doesn’t take Album of the year from the ACM’s as well.

Single of the Year

  • Down the Honkytonk (Jake Owens)
  • Heaven (Kane Brown)
  • Meant to be (Bebe Rexha with Florida Georgia Line)
  • Most People are Good (Luke Bryan)
  • Tequila (Dan + Shay)

All five of these are fantastic singles. Would I get killed if I gave an ACM to Bebe Rexha? As much as I do like the song it’s just not meant to be. There was one time when I remembered now liking Dan and Shay. Them days are long in the past. I am not sure if they have Tequila to taste at the ACM so maybe the taste of success will have to do.

Song of the Year

  • Break Up in The End (Cole Swindell)
  • Broken Halos (Chris Stapleton)
  • Meant to be (Bebe Rexha with Florida Georgia Line)
  • Space Cowboy (Kacey Musgraves)
  • Tequila (Dan + Shay)
  • Yours (Russell Dickerson)

So out of the six songs to pick from we have the choice of my prediction to win male vocalist. A song from my prediction of win album of the year and finally my prediction to win single of the year. They are a lot of accolades to pick from. My personal favorite song from his list is Broken Halos. I am not biased at all, in this matter despite me wearing a Whisky and You T-Shirt and a Chris Stapleton cap while I am writing this article. Broken Halos takes the song of the year for Chris Stapleton.

Video of the Year

  • Babe (Sugerland with Taylor Swift)
  • Burn Out (Midland)
  • Burning Man (Direks with Brothers Osborne)
  • Drunk Girl (Chris Janson)
  • Shoot me Straight (Brothers Osborne)
  • Tequila (Dan and Shay)

My favourite out of the selection of videos here is Burn Out by Midland. Seeing the camera rotate around the bar and the dance floor as Midland play. The video does everything I would expect from a great music video. Good shot composition, tells a story to go along with the song and the fact it was shot in a single take is amazing. Great work and well deserved I hope they take home the prize.

Music event of the Year

  • Burning Man (Direks with Brothers Osborne)
  • Down the Whisky (Jason Aldean with Miranda Lambert)
  • Everything Gonna Be Alright (David Lee Murphy with Kenny Chesney)
  • Keeping Score (Dan and Shay with Kelly Clarkson)
  • Meant to be (Bebe Rexha with Florida Georgia Line)

This is really not the night for Meant to be. Third award and the third time I am predicting it comes up short. I think I have to mark this up as a win for the old guys. David Lee Murphy and Kenny Chesney take this award down.

These are my predictions for the wins of this years ACM awards. Join me on Monday the 8th of April for a full show review and we will see just how right or more likely wrong I am.
